What are the effects of acid rain?

The main problem with acid rain is how devastating it is and the damage it causes to the environment. Acid rain causes the destruction of lakes, streams and all it's surroundings. Acid rain takes an affect on our supplies too, such as buildings, houses, and any material. Acid rain can also have an effect on human health too, because when acid rain falls and someone is standing in it they are are taking in sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide. Sulfur dioxide is extremely dangerous if too much is consumed, it can affect the lungs and can even lead to death. Nitrogen dioxide can inflame the lungs and creates very bad respiratory problems within the body. The most devastating effects is when acid rain hits forests and can end up killing the life that inhabit the area. Also, after acid rain falls, it runs into stream and lakes which turn up polluting them. Once a lake or stream is polluted it starts to affect the aquatic life that lives there and ends up killing them. A whole body of fish can be eliminated from the affects of acid rain on lakes. Which, once that happens the population of life goes down and it keeps a growing affect on the environment.

As you can see acid rain can be very devastating to the environment and really does have a big affect. If the right things are done than acid rain could be prevented or possibly even stopped. People just need to realize that some things they do in their everyday lives are actually helping the destruction of the environment. If acid rain can be prevented then we can have a nice, safe, clean environment.
